78/100 – Whisky Bible 2014
84/100 – Ralfy, of www.ralfy.com – his YouTube review here.

After writing about Dimple and Old Parr, the name ‘J&B’ seems like an anticlimax. With a name as boring as that you’d think it would never catch on! But, J&B is the second best selling blended whisky in the world after Johnnie Walker. Clearly it’s not all in the name!

I’m not sure how old my miniature is but I have to hope it’s not the version Jim Murray gives 78/100 to in his 2014 bible. He described the latest incarnation of this 15-year old as “not worthy to be mentioned in the same breath as the old, original J&B 15yo which, by vivid contrast, was a malty, salivating fruit-fest and minor classic.” One indication that my bottle isn’t the latest version is the volume. Mine is 43% and the new bottling is 40%. Looks like I’ve been lucky and have the “minor classic”! 🙂
