Bought – The Whisky Shop, 23rd August 2013
I’d never heard of Hankey Bannister until recently, then found myself reading an article online saying it was Winston Churchill’s favourite whisky. Then I read elsewhere that there were several others that he liked. A great politician and a whisky tart – what a man! Perhaps if he were alive today he could have whisky sponsorship during ‘Prime Minister Question Time’ from all his favourite brands. A Hankey Bannister tie, a Johnnie Walker cigar and a Glenfiddich baseball cap (replacing his favoured bowler as he moves with the times to get down with the kids).
After discovering Hankey Bannister, less than 24 hours later I was in ‘The Whisky Shop’ in Guildford, Surrey, where I spotted a miniature of this whisky-of-leaders. If it was good enough for Churchill it was good enough for me! I added it to my collection. One day I might even drink it!
